144605Photo #144605This short but often busy stretch of A49 between turnoffs to Leebotwood Church and to Cardington, is an unavoidable but necessary link for cyclists between quieter lanes. A little-used pavement runs along the east side, and could provide a safer option if designated shared use.Cycleway:

140630Photo #140630Footpath and cycleway needed to access the retail park from Oteley Road. Many pedestrians and cyclists short-cut across the grass, which becomes very muddy in autumn/winter. The opportunity to fix this was missed in redevelopment of the Meole Brace roundaboutTrack:

138641Photo #138641A much used off road cycleway from Minsterley ends here and cyclists have to cross the A488 near where the 30MPH limit starts for Pontesbury. Cars are mostly much faster than that here. There is a good wide footway past Ashford drive which could be made dual use for pedestrians and bikes. Busses for children from Minsterley going to Mary Webb in Pontesbury are no longer being funded and there is a missing link from the good cycle track through to the secondry school. Dual use for pavements from the end of the bike track to the bottom of Brookside could be a solution.Cycleway:

133842Photo #133842Pavement needs to be widened slightly to accommodate both pedestrians and cyclists in safety. I cycle every day up this hill and I always have to dismount and get right into the kerb way when big Lorries approach and the many tractors that use this road with very wide loads on the rear. It is very dangerous for cyclists in its present format. The council needs to action this urgently especially with all the new properties and Co-op and Community Centre on this Hill. It is a serious accident waiting to happen please take note of my suggestion and at least make the pavement cycle/pedestrian use from the bottom of Hall Bank to the Medical Practice for safety reasons. Many thanksCycleway:

133145Photo #133145The problem is an excellent cycleway leads from Shrewsbury to Bayston Hill however to join up with the villages to the south you are forced on to the A49 until the Condover turning after which it is possible to take a circuitous route down to Dorrington, Longnor, Leebotwood and Church Stretton. At the very least, the cycleway should be extended at least as far as the Condover turning, but ideally beyond that to enable sustainable transport to the southern villages.Cycleway:
